The Great Forkoff Competition 2009

Heats are on for the SCLAA National Forklift Championships

The SCLAA is pleased to once again host the National Forklift Championships to recognise the importance of forklift operation and operators in the Supply Chain and Logistics industry.

Last year’s winners Angela Mulloy (Pacific Brands) and Trevor Webb (Sydney Markets) will defend their titles in Melbourne in April in 2009. Entries are open now. The national competition is once again supported by Schaefer Systems International and Hyster forklifts.

This national competition will allow forklift operators an opportunity to drive a forklift to a national standard, compete with others around Australia, win excellent prize money, receive a silver trophy and achieve national recognition as a champion.

The competition is open for males and females who have a current forklift licence and can drive either a reach truck or counterbalanced forklift truck in racking.

This competition is based on knowledge and skill not on speed. Safety is very important. Competitors start with a score of 0 and receive points for any errors made. The winner (Male and Female) is the individual with the lowest number of points.

Heat 1 will be held in the month of October across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Maersk Logistics recently signed on as the inaugural foundation partner for the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) and believes that the SCLAA is leading the way in industry based associations across the country.

According to Mr Peter Melville, Integrated Logistics Manager, Maersk Australia being a foundation partner of the SCLAA is a strong show of support for the largest association for professionals and practitioners in Australia.

“In my mind the SCLAA is the only truly national association available for professionals and practitioners to learn, network and grow together. With Branches in all major cities in the country the SCLAA has a strong platform to help guide the way the industry moves forward,” Mr Melville said.
