Maersk Logistics recently signed on as the inaugural foundation partner for the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) and believes that the SCLAA is leading the way in industry based associations across the country. According to Mr Peter Melville, Integrated Logistics Manager, Maersk Australia being a foundation partner of the SCLAA is a strong show of support for the largest association for professionals and practitioners in Australia. “In my mind the SCLAA is the only truly national association available for professionals and practitioners to learn, network and grow together. With Branches in all major cities in the country the SCLAA has a strong platform to help guide the way the industry moves forward,” Mr Melville said.
“Maersk Logistics is extremely excited about this partnership and we believe that together we can educate the industry on what key issues and trends are happening globally and on our own front door,” “As we all know the single most important issue in this industry is recruitment and retention and finding a way to attract the Generation Y market into our industry. Unfortunately the Supply Chain & Logistics industry is not an industry that anyone ‘aspires’ to develop their career in, we all fell into it,” he said. “Maersk Logistics would like to work with the SCLAA to develop a career path for the younger generations to WANT to have a career in Supply Chain & Logistics. Maersk Logistics would like to start by having an open door policy for all of the younger generations to provide them with practical experience during their University courses, to experience the international world of Supply Chain & Logistics and to have the opportunity to join the global Maersk team,” Mr Melville said. “Many of our team have had the opportunity to work in two and three countries and to gain a broader more global feel for the industry. There is so much to learn about the industry working overseas and being a part of the Maersk team will open doors for many younger people looking for a start in this wonderful industry,” To find out more about how you can join the Maersk Logistics team contact Michael James Thirgood, PH: 07 3318 8330 or
